Why We Built Alvara
By Muhammad Zeeshan · 3 July 2026
We built Alvara because managing money well takes far more effort than it should. The apps meant to give you clarity ask you to connect your bank, wait for transactions to import, correct what they guessed wrong, and still leave you doing all the thinking. The tool becomes one more thing to maintain. We wanted the opposite: you tell it, and it keeps the picture current.
That frustration is specific. Open a typical budgeting app after a busy week and you are met with a queue of imported transactions to categorise, duplicates from a card and its statement, and a balance that is a few days stale because the bank feed broke again. None of that is the work you actually care about. The work you care about is the decision: can I afford this, am I on track this month, where did the money quietly go. Everything else is admin the software created for you.
Log money the way you already communicate
Alvara lets you log money by messaging. A quick line of text, a voice note on the walk home, or a photo of a receipt. It reads what you send, files it in the right category, updates your budgets, and can answer questions about your spending in plain language. There is nothing to connect, nothing to reconcile, and nothing to breach, because we never hold your bank credentials in the first place. You already know what you spent. Telling Alvara takes a few seconds, and then it is done.
It lives inside WhatsApp and Telegram, the apps you already open every day, and pairs with a web dashboard for the deeper view: budgets, trends, your accounts and cards, investments, and Ask Alvara, a chat that answers questions about your own numbers. The point is not more screens. The point is less friction between an expense happening and it being accounted for.
Intention first. Wealth follows.
That line is the whole idea. Wealth is not built by obsessing over every dirham. It is built by spending with intention and letting the results compound. When seeing where your money goes takes seconds instead of an evening of admin, the intentional choice becomes the easy one. You check in more often because it costs you nothing, and checking in more often is what actually changes behaviour. Clarity first, and the growth follows.
Built in the UAE
Alvara is built in the United Arab Emirates and is AED-native, with multi-currency support for money and investments held abroad. It understands local merchants, salary cycles, and the reality that a lot of life here runs on a credit card. We built the tool we wanted for our own money, and we are opening it up to the people who feel the same friction. If that is you, we would love for you to try it.
